Local businesses who host
These businesses each run a free, regular get-together under the pledge below. They are listed here because they host, and only while they host. Nothing on this board is for sale, and this page is the one place a business is named.
Nobody yet. The first local business to host a weekly fixture under the pledge will be listed here.
The pledge
A business that hosts here agrees to this, in full, about the thing they host:
- It is free, and nobody has to buy anything to take part.
- There is no pitch. Nothing is sold, promoted or demonstrated during it.
- No sign-up sheets, no email addresses, no photos of the people who come.
- Anyone is welcome, whether or not they have ever been a customer.
- It happens at least every fortnight, at a listed public place or in our public trading area during trading hours.
- The point of it is people being together. If it stops being that, we understand it comes off the board.
The badge on this page appears automatically while a business has a live weekly fixture on the board, and disappears on its own when it lapses. Anyone can report a hosted happening that has become a sales pitch, and a person reads every report.
Why this is here, given the no-advertising promise
This board will never carry advertising, and businesses get no placement anywhere else: no logos on notices, no effect on what you see or in what order. This page is the single exception, and it is a list of hosts, not sponsors. The price of being on it is hosting something free and regular for the neighbourhood. During the pilot there is no fee at all. Later, a small yearly contribution towards running costs may go to the not-for-profit that runs the board, and it will be published here when it does.
Run a local business and want to host? A café walk group, a knit night at a yarn shop, a beginners' bike check at the bike shop, a chess table at the bookshop. Take the pledge. It takes two minutes and a verified mobile.
